Milk thistle, also known as sillimarin, is an herb that has been extensively studied in traditional herbal medicine. The seeds of milk thistle contain a flavonoid called silymarin or silymarin. The main function of milk thistle is to clear the liver and gallbladder, and has the following detoxification functions:
