Bean is one of the staple foods grown globally and one of the staple foods we know best. Rice contains a lot of rich nutrients. In addition to the rice itself, through certain processing methods, the protein extracted from rice can then be crushed and purified to form rice protein powder.
Rice protein is a vegetarian protein that is easier for some people to digest than whey protein. Brown rice can be treated with enzymes that cause the carbohydrates to separate from the proteins. The resulting protein powder is then sometimes flavored or added to smoothies or health shakes. Rice protein has a more distinct flavor than most other forms of protein powder. Like whey hydrate, this taste is not effectively masked by most flavorings; however, the taste of rice protein is generally considered less offensive than the whey hydrate bitterness. This unique rice protein flavor may even be preferred by rice protein consumers over artificial flavors.
Rice protein is often blended with pea protein powder. Rice protein is high in the sulfur-containing amino acids cysteine and methionine, but low in lysine. On the other hand, pea protein is low in cysteine and methionine, but high in lysine. Thus, the combination of rice and pea proteins provides a superior amino acid profile comparable to dairy or egg proteins, but without the potential for allergies or gut problems that some users have to these proteins. Also, the light, fluffy texture of pea protein tends to smooth out the strong chalky taste of rice protein. Rice protein is rich in various essential amino acids, especially the lysine content is among the best in grains. Compared with proteins from other grains, rice protein has relatively high biological value (BV) and PER, and has good nutritional value.
