The small-molecule compound Erlotinib, also known as erlotinib, Tacevar, Tarceva, OSI-774, Tarceva, is a receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR antagonist), a molecular-targeted therapeutic agent that inhibits phosphorylation by competitive binding with adenosine triphosphate to the intracellular catalytic site of receptor tyrosine kinase. Thus, downward proliferation signal transduction is blocked, ligand-dependent HER-1/EGFR activity of tumor cells is inhibited, and tumor cell proliferation is inhibited.
