Rhamnose, 6-deoxy-L-mannose, also known as methylpentose, is a deoxygenated hexose. It can be obtained from water by hydroxylating mannose. Most of them are L-type in nature, and widely exist in polysaccharides, glycosides, plant gums of plants and polysaccharides on the surface of bacterial cells. Its sweetness is 33% of that of sucrose. It can be used as a sweetener, and can also be used to produce flavors and spices. It is edible. |
